A Step Free Route from Whitestone Pond to Parliament Hill triangle (via Viaduct)

This is a step-free route from Whitestone Pond to the facilities in Parliament Hill triangle, including the Parliament Hill Staffyard, café and toilets.

The journey is around 2400 metres. For people who can manage an average walking speed of 4.8 km per hour, this journey could take around 30 minutes. Bear in mind though, that these are estimates only, and that most of these journeys travel up and downhill, and so they may take longer.

    Paved or hard packed earth surface, with some hills to climb but mainly downhill.

  1. step1

    1 Take the entrance into Hampstead Heath off Spaniards Road. This path is for walkers and cyclists.

    2 Follow the path to the right and down.

    3 On your left you will go past a drinking fountain and a small cottage behind the trees. Here you will find male and female toilets.

    4 Next you come to the Viaduct. Keep going straight ahead to go over the viaduct and follow the path.

    5 You reach the Sports Ground, keep going straight ahead along the path. You can find another drinking fountain on your left under the trees.

    6 At the fork in the path follow the path on the right.

    7 At the next fork in the path keep going in the same direction by following the path on the right.

    8 The path starts to go downhill steeply. At the next fork in the path you will need to take the left path, the path climbs steeply upwards. This path is not shared with cyclists.

    9 Keep walking straight uphill. You come to the summit of Parliament Hill.

    10 Keep going straight ahead over the other side and all the way down.

    11 Go straight ahead at the crossroads in the path.

    12 You arrive at Parliament Hill triangle facilities. The first building at the bottom of the hill is the Parliament Hill Staffyard. The toilets are in the next building along on your left. The cafe is on your right.
