Enabled Maps is another service by Enabled London, who won a Visit London Gold Award for devising the photo mapping system.
Each map is clear and effective, incorporating photographs of each stage of the journey with simple graphics and basic instructions, guiding the traveller along the way.
The Enabled Maps website tool is designed to allow anyone to create accessible and editable maps for walkers. The maps are custom-made for step free journeys and they can be in website or print formats.
The business case
Organisations with an obligation to provide public services often don’t know if their visitors have any form of disability, speak English as a second language or have difficulty navigating linear maps and therefore are thinking about reaching a smaller society. Enabled Maps provides a simple, economical service making information clear, accessible and fun while communicating to potential visitors that they are important customers and not just users of services.
How can I subscribe to it?
The website tool and training is being offered as:
“People with learning disabilities are the right group of people to design accessible information, often they have a life-times service placed upon them, many people with learning disabilities may have hidden or undiagnosed forms of disability (i.e also have visual and physical disabilities)”.
